Find a Cat Breed with the Filters
Leave the selectors on Random to browse widely, or choose ratings for shedding, family affection, playfulness, grooming effort, getting along with other pets, and getting along with children. Press Discover cat breed to pick a breed from the matching results.
The choices are combined. Low shedding and High playfulness asks for a breed with both listed ratings. The tool does not score near matches. If no breed appears, set one of the selectors back to Random. Reset filters clears the selections but keeps the current cat on screen until the next pick.
Read the Scales Before Comparing Cats
Most ratings rise with the named trait: a shedding score of 5 means more shedding, a playfulness score of 5 means more playful, and a family affection score of 5 means more affectionate with family. The result also shows general health and intelligence ratings from the breed data.
Grooming is the exception. In this data, 1 means the most grooming work and 5 means the least. The result calls this Grooming ease so a high number is easier to interpret. A low shedding score does not automatically mean low grooming effort; use both fields if coat care matters to you.
Understand the Breed Details
The result includes the breed name, a photo, reported origin, life expectancy, a length description, and a weight range. Weight is shown in kilograms first, with the source's pounds in brackets. The length field is supplied as text, so it may say something like Medium rather than give a measurement to convert.
A photo shows one cat associated with the breed. It cannot show every coat pattern or body shape. The life expectancy and weight ranges describe breed data, not what one particular cat will weigh or how long it will live.
Use the Ratings as Questions, Not Guarantees
A high children-friendly or other-pets-friendly score describes a broad breed tendency. It cannot tell you whether a particular cat is comfortable with your child or current pet. If you are considering an individual cat, ask the shelter, rescue group, or current carer about its behavior and previous home.
